EEDS: what does the future hold for the research community?

EEDS and public health research: challenges and prospects

The European Health Data Space (EEDS) establishes a common framework for accessing and sharing health data across the European Union. For the public health research community, this regulation opens up new opportunities whilst raising fundamental questions regarding data quality assurance, governance and conditions of access to data.

In light of these challenges, FReSH, INED and Progedo have joined forces to offer you a forum for discussion focused on the practical implications of the EEDS for public health research.

Programme

Drawing on insights from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, as well as the perspectives of research institutes and data infrastructure organisations, this webinar aims to facilitate a discussion on the key issues raised by this regulation for research.

Presentation of the regulation on the European Health Data Space :

  • Stéphanie Pitre, Project Officer for Digital Sciences and Emerging Technologies in Healthcare at the DGRI

Round table: Preparing for the implementation of the EEDS for research institutes and data infrastructures :

  • Hela Ghariani (Director of the Health Data Platform),
  • Arnaud de Guerra (Deputy Director of the Inserm Institute of Public Health),
  • Nicolas Sauger (Director of Progedo),
  • Elise de La Rochebrochard (Research Director at INED)
  • Yohann Foucher (Researcher at the University and University Hospital of Poitiers)

The webinar also provides an opportunity to discover two initiatives working to facilitate the use of human health research data:

  • FReSH, the catalogue established to catalogue French research data as part of the EEDS – Grégoire Rey (Director of France Cohortes and FReSH)
  • NFDI4Health, the German infrastructure dedicated to health research data – Ulrich Sax (Professor at the University of Göttingen)

These two presentations illustrate the possibilities offered by the EEDS: identifying existing studies, pinpointing variables that are comparable across countries, and opening the way to new collaborations and comparative research at European level.
